I would love tagging! My thought would be to use it much like every other social site uses it. (Storehouse does it really well)

The user can input a tag in the form of a hashtag anywhere within a thought. In the #middle of a sentence. Or even at the beginning or end of a thought.

Clicking on one of these hash tags or searching would show a filtered list of plans.

This would allow the hashtags to be used as a filtering tool or for creating "soft categories." And because this is the way hashtags are used across many popular sites, it is intuitive.

I think the placeholder text is a better option than a modal. The google drive rename modal always bugs the crap out of me.

It would be much faster to just click on the title and if it hasn't been named yet, then just provide a clear input field to start typing right away. If it is already named then you can just edit the text.

This is already the default behavior of an input with placeholder text, so it will be intuitive.

If you don't mind a third party, you can use Fluid to make TP mostly behave like a native app.
